We built this service on what the cardiologists, GPs and specialists we work with told us they want from exercise physiology — and what they've learned not to trust.

They want exercise used as an adjunct to their management, not "a walking program". They want safety that's observable and documented: screening before anyone starts, supervision during, and an escalation path that's actually followed. They want measurement that shows real change — a tested baseline, not a smartwatch estimate — and an exercise dose set from the patient's own numbers, including where heart rate is an unreliable guide (beta-blockade, atrial fibrillation, pacing). And they want the loop closed without being buried: a short, top-loaded letter when a finding is clinically significant, and nothing when it isn't.

That is an old-fashioned way to work — a clinician who knows the patient, supervises the session and communicates back when it's needed, not for the sake of it — backed by current evidence on what fitness and strength predict and how much of it is modifiable.

Four Things We Commit To

Every referral runs on the same four commitments, whatever the condition or funding pathway.

01 · Screen first

Nobody Starts Unscreened

Pre-exercise screening, medication and device review, and your clearance where the protocol calls for it, before any test proceeds. Amber findings come back to you with a question, not a decision made for you.

02 · Test, don't guess

A Measured Baseline

Cardiorespiratory fitness (sub-maximal, VO₂ Peak or VO₂ Max as indicated), strength, grip, function and body composition, measured against age and sex norms. Intensity is prescribed from measured thresholds — RPE and %VO₂ where heart rate can't be trusted.

03 · Supervise and coach

A Clinician Who Knows Them

Delivered and progressed by the same Accredited Exercise Physiologist, with blood pressure, symptoms and recovery monitored where indicated, and the pacing that turns "I should" into "I want". Your patient keeps you as their doctor; we stay in our lane.

04 · Close the loop

Report What Matters

A plain-English summary after baseline, a progress report at 12-week re-test aligned to your review, a same-day call for anything concerning — and no compliance dashboards or volume reports. We record and report; you interpret and diagnose.

What We Measure

VO₂ Max and VO₂ Peak testing with gas analysis, sub-maximal fitness testing, ECAL resting metabolic testing, lactate threshold where sampled, force-plate strength and asymmetry, grip strength, functional and balance testing, spirometry, and InBody body composition — selected per patient, never run as a menu. For your patients, that means precisely prescribed exercise. For you, it means a baseline on assessment, objective progress at review and re-test data over time.

Refer the way that suits you: your clinic letter with the patient, an email to reception@o2active.com.au, or the secure form. One line and the relevant investigations are enough. We respond within 48 hours (business days), and we currently have no waitlist.

We're actively deepening our work with GPs and health specialists across Perth — because your patients get the best outcomes when their exercise physiology is genuinely integrated with your management, not running in parallel to it. That means shared data, aligned review timing, and a clinician on our side who speaks yours.
