O2 Active Exercise Physiologists prescribe resistance training that aligns with your child’s / youth athlete’s goals, whilst also considering technical aptitude, current strength levels, biological age, and psychosocial maturity.

Among our team of Exercise Physiologists, you’ll find individuals with experience in WAFL, WABL, NBL1, tennis, netball, cycling, dance, running and swimming. The Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) position statement states that resistance training, under the guidance of a qualified professional, is a safe and effective exercise to be engaged by children and youth. 

Resistance training creates notable enhancements in various aspects of performance including:

How to become involved:

STEP 1: Call O2 Active

Call O2 Active to learn more about our Youth Sport Specific Strength program. Our staff will be ready to answer your questions and book your initial consultation with the best suited Exercise Physiologist for your child’s specific sportCost of 30 min initial: $77. Medicare & health rebates may apply.   

STEP 2: Initial consultation

During this appointment, we will discuss: 

  • Your measurable sporting goals: Do you want to jump higher, sprint faster, kick further or improve your endurance? 
  • Your health: Gathering past injury history and  pre-existing health conditions. This will allow us to take a holistic approach to your exercise prescription.  
  • An initial assessment will be conducted: This will help us design your individual program, starting you in line with your ability.   

Guardian accompaniment is recommended at this appointment (for children U/15). 

STEP 3: First session

Call our clinic or download the O2 Active App to book your first 1 on 1 Exercise Physiology in-gym session. During this session, you will be guided through your program for the first time. Cost of 30 min session: $77. Medicare & health rebates may apply.

 

STEP 4: Weekly sessions

Book into the small group Youth Sport Specific Strengthterm program. Cost of 8 week term program  1 x 50 min session a week $240, 2 x 50 min sessions a week $450. Health rebates may apply.
